South Florida is getting ready to welcome a third cold front in less than a month, which promises to be more significant than the previous ones recorded this season. Below is a summary of what is expected in the coming days.
The first front arrived last Wednesday, bringing significant relief to the humidity in the region.
The second one was felt on Friday, leading to a Saturday morning with temperatures of 60°F and a refreshing climate that prevailed throughout the weekend.
When will the new cold front arrive in Florida?
Although historically the south of Florida experiences its first significant arctic front around Christmas, this year it will arrive much earlier.
It is expected that by Wednesday, a cold front from Canada will move down the east coast, reaching southern Florida, which will lead to a cold front on Thursday.
Significant rainfall is expected on Wednesday afternoon and throughout the night due to the interaction of the cold front with the remnants of Tropical Storm Sara, which may also bring some gusty winds.
On Thursday morning, there will still be some rainfall, but this will be followed by a quick drop in humidity.
It is expected that by Thursday afternoon, the weather will be mostly sunny, continuing into Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Between Friday and Sunday, temperatures will be cool, with highs around 70 °F and lows in the 50s °F, the lowest since February. Sunday is expected to be mostly sunny, with lows around 60 °F.
Meteorologists emphasize that this cold front could signify the "unofficial end" of the hurricane season.
This was stated by Cuban meteorologist José Rubiera, who noted that the upcoming change in weather will also impact Cuba.
