The first cold front of the season will arrive in Florida this Wednesday, marking the end of the rainy season in the region, according to weather forecasts.

The weather forecasts for the coming days indicate that the initial cold front of autumn will arrive in southwest Florida on Wednesday night, although some experts believe it could be moving in from late Tuesday night or at dawn on Wednesday.

In southeastern Florida, rain is forecasted as a cold front approaches and remains in the region starting this Wednesday.

According to the notice issued by Local 10 News, maximum temperatures are expected to reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit (26.6 Celsius) tomorrow, while Thursday could be a bit cooler, with lows around 70 °F (21.1 °C) and highs below 80 °F.

For this Tuesday night, Local 10 News meteorologist Betty Davis announced showers for the southern part of the state, especially in the vicinity of southwestern Miami-Dade, mainland Monroe, or near the Keys, with a drop in temperatures to just above 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

The National Weather Service Miami-South Florida announced this Tuesday the approach of a cold front, although it stated that warm temperatures would still be recorded during the day: between 26.6 and 29.4 degrees Celsius.

"A cold front is approaching, but unfortunately, it has not arrived yet! Today's maximum temperatures will be between 80 and 85 degrees with a chance of rain in the far southeast this afternoon. Temperatures are expected to drop starting tomorrow!" warned the NWS on the social network X.

A report from Telemundo51 warned, however, that the effects of the first cold front to reach southern Florida this autumn season will not be very lasting. The notice confirmed that the drop in temperatures will be felt, especially Thursday morning, when lows between 68 °F (20 °C) and 71 °F (21.6 °C) will be recorded, and highs will barely reach 80 °F during the afternoon.

Furthermore, the system will position itself over the Florida Strait, and for Friday and Saturday, there will be scattered rains and storms from the Florida Keys to Lake Okeechobee, accompanied by windy conditions.

In southwest Florida, “temperatures will drop quickly on Wednesday night and will eventually fall to around 60 degrees (Fahrenheit) throughout the region. Even areas like Fort Myers and Cape Coral will cool down to around 63 degrees (17.2 degrees Celsius) by Thursday morning,” forecasted meteorologist Jason Dunning on NBC.

The coolest day of the week will be Thursday, when daytime minimum temperatures will drop to 60 °F (15.5 °C) and in some inland areas they could reach 50 °F (10 °C). For that day, maximum temperatures are expected to reach 80 °F, according to the forecast.

However, pleasant weather conditions and sunshine are expected in the region, despite the cold air mass that will remain over the state.

For central Florida, the autumn front will bring cooler temperatures after a period of warm weather, noted in its forecast by the Click Orlando portal of television station WKMG-TV.

According to the report, daytime highs will drop to the 70s starting Wednesday, while for the morning of the following day, minimum temperatures of 50 °F are expected in a significant part of the central region of the state. In some areas of Marion County, they could even fall to 40 degrees (4.4 °C) that day.

In contrast, the coastal regions will experience a milder climate, with minimum temperatures around 60 degrees. The cold front will be accompanied by winds, which could persist throughout the weekend.

Before arriving in Florida, the first cold front of the season would bring very cold temperatures, rain, and even light snow to the Midwest and parts of the East of the U.S., at the beginning of the week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

"In this map, you will see a large area that anticipates freezing temperatures tonight, which may affect tender outdoor vegetation," warned this Tuesday on social media X.
