"My heart bursts with happiness": Cuban woman prepares her first package for her family on the island

"I am in this country because of them. If I am fighting here and working, it is for them, to give them the best and to provide everything they need."

After months of effort and sacrifice, a young Cuban woman in the United States was able to make her dream come true by preparing her first package for her family in Cuba.

Amid clothing, essential items, and a great deal of hope, she showcased what it means for her to help her loved ones from afar. This gesture, filled with love and optimism, reflects the sacrifices made by many migrants who never forget those they left behind. The author of this story, known as Elianis (@elianis1612), shared the process through a video on TikTok, where messages of support and empathy quickly flooded in.

“This is the first package I'm going to send, and my heart is bursting with happiness,” she remarked while arranging the items for shipment. With a sincere and emotional tone, she explained that her daily efforts in the United States have one sole purpose: to improve the lives of her family on the island. “Family comes first… If I'm in this country, it's for them,” she stated.

Elianis, who arrived pregnant with her daughter and gave birth shortly after moving, confessed that it took her seven months to stabilize enough to send something back home. However, throughout that time, she never stopped thinking about how to help. “The least that is sent to the family in Cuba makes them happy, because there is a shortage of everything there, and when I say everything, I mean everything,” she added, highlighting the crisis the island is facing.

Although she acknowledged that some criticize sending aid, for her there is no debate: "I don't care because my family comes first... Seeing their happy faces when they receive every little thing I send with love truly fulfills my life."

In the video, which has continued to receive reactions, he also expressed his gratitude for being in a position that allows him to help. "Today, I just want to thank God for giving me the opportunity to be here and to be able to send you everything you need," he concluded.

Comments on TikTok came in quickly. Many users related to her story and praised her for her efforts. "Only those who carry their family in their hearts understand this"; "You are an example of perseverance, congratulations on what you do"; "Much strength to you, what you are doing is an enormous act of love," were some of the most notable messages.

However, there was also room for humor. One of her followers joked about her little belly in the video, and Elianis, laughing, responded, "We're a bit chubby and that's okay!"

Elianis's gesture not only reveals the more human side of Cuban migrants but also inspires many with her story of love and sacrifice for her family.
