A false bomb threat led to a precautionary closure and a significant police presence at Hialeah Senior High School around noon on Monday.

Helicopters from television channels flew over the scene and captured images of the massive police presence at the educational center located at 251 E. 47th St. in the city of Hialeah, around 11:45 a.m.

According to the police, the officers received reports of a bomb threat and the presence of a weapon at the school.

After deeming the information credible, police units arrived and entered the campus, including four K-9 units.

Authorities later reported that the threats appeared to be unfounded, but that a security sweep was being conducted at the school as a precautionary measure, said the news channel WPLG Local 10 News.

The police informed the parents who arrived at the school that they could go home and that the facility had been secured.

The school remains closed while the Hialeah Police continue to collaborate with the Miami-Dade County School Police, according to 7 News Miami.

Authorities have not announced whether they have identified the person or persons who made the threats.
