An accident occurred this Thursday afternoon on a stretch of the National Highway, near the municipality of Aguada de Pasajeros, in the province of Cienfuegos. It reportedly resulted in two fatalities and numerous injuries.

In a later update, Telecentro Perlavisión specified that according to preliminary reports, "the collision involved a 16-seat minibus from Transtur based in Santa Fe, Havana. The vehicle, which was carrying eight tourists, struck the divider on the highway at km 209."
Juan Juan AL MEDIO, on Facebook, posted a video showing the Transtur bus that, allegedly after the collision, fell into the central divider of the National Highway.
Also this Thursday, a fire in the electrical panels of the "Carlos Manuel de Céspedes" thermoelectric plant in the province of Cienfuegos caused alarm in the morning, although it was quickly extinguished thanks to the intervention of the local staff and firefighters.
According to the Facebook page of Radio Ciudad del Mar, the flames were extinguished without any injuries reported, and authorities have begun investigations to determine the causes of the incident and assess the damage incurred.
Later, journalist Lázaro Manuel Alonso, citing statements from Juan Bravo Núñez, the director of that thermoelectric power plant, reported that the damages were classified as "severe".
