Currencies in Cuba: Euro price collapses in the informal market

The euro has seen a drop in the last few hours in Cuba. How has the dollar and the MLC performed?


In recent hours, the selling price of the euro in the informal Cuban market has experienced a drop.

The European currency dropped five pesos suddenly and is now being sold at an average of 340 CUP.

In the case of the dollar and the freely convertible currency (MLC), both remained unchanged for the fourth consecutive day.

The U.S. dollar on January 22 is still valued at 340 CUP, while the value of the virtual currency remains at 240 CUP, exactly one hundred pesos below the euro and the dollar.

After experiencing price declines in December, in January the value of currencies has mostly increased, driven by the dollarization measures announced by the Cuban regime.

However, values fluctuate according to the buying and selling announcements monitored by the independent medium elToque, which serve as a reference for the prices published each day.
