The Cuban comedian Ulises Toirac urged the government to address the country's problems before criticizing what is happening elsewhere.

"I don't think we need to look outside when there are serious errors internally, both objectively and concretely. Politically, socially, and economically. Period. Fix your own house and then demand respect from the neighborhood. But fix your house first," they said on their Facebook wall.

The actor recalled that the government's economic policy has shown for years that it resolves nothing and, in addition, generates significant social inequality and catastrophic distortions at the individual level.

But it didn't just limit itself to questioning the economic aspect. It recalled that the Constitution had to reluctantly include laws and terms that, if omitted, would violate international standards, but which are systematically ignored in legal practice.

"You can go in silence and without signs and still be accused of public scandal or public disorder (which also means you risk being treated as 'other causes' in statements to international media)," he stated.

Ulises also referred to the recent return of Cuba to the list of state sponsors of terrorism and how it affects him in his life, criticizing those who claim that the measure is only against the government and not against its citizens.

"Who can't do business online is me (the Government and its people have all the tools to do so and, even by chance, operate from within the United States, it's no secret). Who can't use free or paid resources online is me (the Government has all the tools to bypass that wall), the one treated like a terrorist at many airports, spending hours in a holding area, even when I have my documents in order, is me (the Government representatives use official channels and expedited protocols). And it goes on and on... In other words, the target of the measures is me. Or in a way that annihilates my chances of survival. It doesn't empower me, it demeans me," he argued.

The comedian accused the government of turning a blind eye to internal problems and using the intolerant and aggressive attitude of the United States as a justification to "wave nationalism and stand firm against a change" that is not in its favor.

"When you add all of that up, what remains is what is called 'the Cuban problem': a squeezed people, a valve that escapes through emigration, the eternalization of the status quo," he noted.

"The apparent solution, to anger the people by making them endure hunger so that they rise up against the government, remains only in the first part of the thesis. Hunger. And I'm leaving to avoid it. Are there not enough numbers to prove it? More than a thousand prisoners 'for other reasons' and 10% of the population taking to the streets in just the last two years. And counting," he emphasized.
