An undercover operation between Miami police officers and the Human Trafficking Unit of the Miami-Dade County Prosecutor's Office led this week to the arrest of two women accused of offering prostitution services online.

One of the detainees is a tourist of Dominican nationality, while the identity and origin of the second woman have not been publicly confirmed.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Dary García Silva, 54 years old, and Maira Alejandra Carnaval, 34.

According to the authorities, both would have used an adult advertisement website to coordinate a meeting with alleged clients at a hotel in the area.

During the police operation, an undercover agent contacted one of the suspects and arranged a meeting in which, in exchange for 150 dollars, he could spend half an hour with her.

Al llegar al lugar, The officer was surprised to find two women in the room.

"The agent arrives at the scene, makes a call, and then speaks with the woman who had told him that for 150 dollars he could spend half an hour with her. When the officer knocks on the door, he finds that there were two women," stated Mike Vega, spokesperson for the Miami Police, in statements to Univision.

Dary García Silva resides in the Dominican Republic and had arrived in Miami on July 4, according to authorities.

This Thursday, the woman appeared in court, where she was granted a bail of $1,900.

Law enforcement has warned about the rise of this type of crime in the city.

"This type of illegal activity has become very common," they emphasized, adding that investigations to detect and curb these networks are conducted daily.

As of the closure of this note, no further details about the case have been disclosed.

Another recent case: Raid on spas suspected of operating as brothels

This new operation comes just days after another incident that occurred in early July, in which three women were arrested in two massage centers in Miami-Dade County, also for allegedly offering sexual services in exchange for money.

The businesses involved, Angelina Spa and New Image Spa, operated as spas but were being investigated following reports of potential illegal activities.

In that case as well, undercover agents visited the establishments posing as customers and documented explicit offers of sexual services from the staff.

In Angelina Spa, Yorlenis Rodríguez, 45 years old, of Cuban nationality, and Heidi Ronda Pérez, 34, were detained.

While Milenis González Torres, 38 years old, was arrested at New Image Spa.

In one of the cases, one of the detainees offered the agent "hand," "mouth," or "everything," while touching her intimate parts.

Another woman was arrested when she was found partially undressed and made a direct sexual proposal to the officer. In all cases, following the acceptance of the offer or the exchange of money, the officers proceeded with the arrests.

The rates for sexual services varied between 150 and 300 dollars, according to police reports.

A growing trend

The Miami-Dade authorities have intensified their focus on this type of crime, implementing undercover operations to identify points of sexual exploitation in hotels, spas, massage centers, and other spaces.

In addition to the legal component, possible links to human trafficking networks are also being investigated, a growing concern in South Florida.

The recurring involvement of foreign women in these cases also raises questions about transnational trafficking and the potential vulnerability of migrant women who arrive in the United States with economic expectations and end up trapped in exploitative environments.
