A multiple accident on Interstate Highway I-95 in the Ives Dairy Road area left at least 29 people injured, 13 of whom were hospitalized, after a truck with a trailer caused a chain collision involving 18 vehicles.
The incident occurred around 11:25 p.m. on Thursday, when the truck was traveling south through a congested stretch and failed to brake in time, colliding with several cars and causing a chain reaction, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), as reported by Telemundo 51.
Miami-Dade Fire Department teams arrived at the scene and found several passenger vehicles with severe damage.
Among the injured were three children and nine adults who were taken to local hospitals, while one adult was admitted in critical trauma alert condition.

Other patients were evaluated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.
The accident caused a fuel leak, which necessitated closing I-95 southbound for the entire night, with detours to Ives Dairy Road. The road was reopened around 6:10 a.m. on Friday, although heavy congestion persisted in the area.
Videos posted on social media showed several mangled cars and the trailer truck stopped after the collision.
Witnesses reported that the explosion was heard several meters away and described the strong smell of burning that lingered in the air after the collision.
Authorities are still investigating whether the truck driver will face charges related to the accident.
