A video by content creator Leyanet Pérez Orellana (@leyaorellana) surprised Cubans both on the island and abroad.

The influencer visited the town of Las Minas, in the municipality of Cabaiguán, province of Sancti Spíritus, and showcased an uncommon reality in Cuba: the residents cook with natural gas that flows directly through pipes from nearby oil wells.

"Here, gas is not lacking. They have it delivered through pipes just like the street water," he recounted in his video, which has garnered thousands of views and comments of astonishment. The residents of Las Minas light their stoves with ease, something unthinkable in most Cuban households, where gas is a scarce resource and many go months without receiving it.

While in almost the entire country families rely on charcoal, firewood, or electric stoves, the residents of Las Minas enjoy a constant supply thanks to a small local gas pipeline.

"Cuba is a box of surprises," commented one user, while another noted, "How wonderful, someone showcasing something good about the Cuban countryside."

In times of blackouts and shortages, this batey in the province of Sancti Spíritus seems to have a sort of "divine privilege" within the island.
