The Manufactured Gas Company announced that there will be a total gas service outage in the Playa and Marianao municipalities, due to replacement work on a 12-inch transmission pipeline.

The stop will take place at the production facility “Mario Fortuny,” between 10:00 PM on Thursday, August 21, and 4:00 AM on Friday, August 22, completely affecting the supply in the mentioned areas.

According to the company, the intervention is "necessary" to ensure the stability of the gas network that supplies both municipalities. Maintenance work will focus on the intersection of 70th and 43rd Streets, in the Playa municipality.

The entity apologized to customers for any inconvenience caused by the interruption and reiterated its "commitment" to providing a safe and quality service to the community.

The issues with the manufactured gas service in the capital are part of the severe energy crisis that Cuba is experiencing, which is also affected by the shortage of liquefied gas.

In May, the breakage of a manufactured gas pipeline worsened the situation for residents in two municipalities of Havana, where the supply of domestic fuel was suspended until the damaged section was replaced in the coming days.

At the end of April, the production plant #1 (Melones) of manufactured gas in Havana suspended service in the municipalities of Plaza de la Revolución, La Habana Vieja, Centro Habana, Cerro, and Diez de Octubre to carry out “urgent” maintenance work.

A month earlier, the industry had also made another unavoidable halt to "ensure the stability of gas" in the five municipalities.

Meanwhile, the shortage of liquefied gas continues to negatively impact the daily lives of a large portion of the Cuban population, and the government has not provided a solution after months of fuel shortages.
