The Cuban opposition leader José Daniel Ferrer, exiled in October after more than two years of arbitrary imprisonment, called for a demonstration this Saturday in solidarity with political prisoners who are on hunger strikes in various prisons across Cuba.

“If you live in Miami or nearby and wish for us to come together to express our solidarity with the political prisoners on hunger strike and with all of them in general, we can meet at 2:00 p.m. at the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora, located at 1200 SW Coral Way, Miami,” wrote Ferrer on his X account (formerly Twitter).

The meeting, scheduled for the afternoon of Sunday, November 16, aims to raise awareness about the situation of dozens of political prisoners who, according to reports from human rights organizations, are facing inhumane conditions in Cuban regime prisons.

Since arriving in exile, the founder of the Patriotic Union of Cuba (UNPACU) has focused his efforts on denouncing prison repression and promoting networks of economic and humanitarian support for the families of those detained for political reasons.

In recent weeks, Ferrer has warned that there are more than 700 political prisoners in Cuba and that the country’s prisons “are no different from Nazi concentration camps” due to the level of cruelty faced by inmates.

The opposition leader has insisted that his exile does not signify defeat, but rather a new stage of struggle "for those who have no voice within the island." From Miami, he has amplified calls for unity among Cubans to demand the release of all political prisoners and an end to repression.

The demonstration at the Museum of the Cuban Diaspora aims to bring together activists, exiles, and human rights defenders to send a united message of support to those maintaining the hunger strike and to all those imprisoned for political reasons.

"We remain steadfast, from wherever we are, for the freedom of Cuba and our political prisoners," Ferrer reiterated.
