The first images of the joint exercises between the United States Marine Corps and the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Forces were released this Thursday, showcasing coordinated operations in various areas of the Caribbean country under the supervision of Southern Command (SOUTHCOM).

According to the Embassy of the United States in Port of Spain, the exercises will take place from November 16 to 21, 2025 in urban and rural environments, with operations conducted both during the day and at night.

In the released images, helicopters from the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit (22nd MEU) are seen flying over training areas, alongside troops deployed on the ground.

These maneuvers are part of the annual military cooperation programs of the Southern Command, aimed at in the Caribbean and Latin America.

According to the U.S. embassy, the aim is to enhance coordination against common threats such as drug trafficking, irregular migration, natural disasters, and illegal activities in international waters.

Although Washington has not specified the number of deployed personnel, it has been confirmed that amphibious units, aviation, and marine infantry are involved, along with personnel from the Trinidad and Tobago Defense Forces in support and logistics roles.

The Southern Command maintains an active presence in the region through joint exercises in countries such as Colombia, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Jamaica, aimed at strengthening alliances and ensuring stability in the hemisphere.

These operations are also seen as a deterrent signal against the growing military influence of powers like Russia and China in the Caribbean; and they have been criticized by the regime of Nicolás Maduro and by President Gustavo Petro in Venezuela and Colombia respectively.
