The Cuban-American congressman Carlos Giménez publicly celebrated the new measures announced by President Donald Trump against Venezuela, including a total oil blockade and a tightening of deportations, asserting that the Venezuelan people “will be eternally grateful” to the American leader.

In a series of posts on the social media platform X, the Republican lawmaker referred to Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro as a "narcoterrorist dictator" and stated that his Government and the so-called Cártel de los Soles "must be relegated to oblivion."

"I fully support President Trump's oil blockade and all military operations to protect the United States from these bullies," wrote Giménez.

In that same message, the congressman compared a potential collapse of Maduro's government to a major historical event: "The collapse of Maduro's narco-terrorist cartel will be equivalent in this hemisphere to the fall of the Berlin Wall."

"The time has come" and the end of the "narcodictatorship"

In another post, Giménez shared a publication from Trump himself accompanied by the phrase "THE TIME HAS COME," reinforcing his support for Washington's political and economic offensive against Caracas.

Furthermore, he insisted in the same message by writing: “Nothing can stop the inevitable: the end of Nicolás Maduro's terrorist drug dictatorship in Venezuela.”

The congressman's statements come just hours after Trump announced new sanctions and punitive measures against the Venezuelan regime.

Trump orders total oil blockade

In a message posted this Tuesday on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump announced a “total and complete” oil blockade against Venezuela, asserting that the oil from the South American country was being used to finance criminal activities.

“Today I am ordering a total and complete blockade of all authorized oil tankers entering and exiting Venezuela,” said Trump, who accused Maduro's regime of financing narco-terrorism, human trafficking, murders, and kidnappings with energy resources.

The president also stated that Venezuela is "completely surrounded" by military forces and warned that the pressure will continue until the country returns to the United States "all the oil, lands, and other assets" that, he claimed, were stolen in the past. Trump reiterated that he considers Maduro's government an "illegitimate regime" and referred to it as a foreign terrorist organization.

Stricter deportations

The presidential announcement also includes a tightening of immigration policy, with an emphasis on the expedited deportation of immigrants whom Trump described as "illegal and criminal." According to the president, these individuals would have been sent to the United States by the Venezuelan government during Joe Biden's administration, and their return is already taking place "at an accelerated pace."

Although Trump did not specify the legal mechanisms or the immediate scope of these measures, the message represents a new political and rhetorical escalation against Caracas, with potential repercussions for energy markets, regional security, and migration flows from South America and the Caribbean.

Carlos Giménez's words reflect the support of a sector of the Republican Party for the White House's maximum pressure strategy, in a context of high geopolitical tension in the hemisphere.
