The Cuban singer and songwriter José Antonio Silverio has passed away



The Cuban singer José Antonio Silverio, famous for "Río Río Río" from the 2016 Olympic Games, passed away at the age of 40. He worked in Costa Rica and collaborated with prominent Cuban artists.

The Cuban composer and singer José Antonio Silverio Guzmán passed away in Miami at the age of 40.

The news was shared this Saturday on social media by friends and acquaintances.

“Rest in peace, José Antonio Silverio. May God grant him eternal rest and give strength to his family and loved ones during this time of sorrow,” wrote on Facebook the company Unlimited Productions.

"Fly high, my friend, I will always remember you, José Antonio. R.I.P," wrote music promoter Maggie Jiménez.

The causes of death have not been disclosed.

The singer-songwriter is primarily known for “Río Río Río,” the official song that accompanied Cuban television broadcasts of the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Silverio was born in Havana on August 22, 1985, according to the Costa Rican Cultural Information System website, where the artist worked for a time.

He also created original music for Cuban television programs such as Entre tú y yo, Teleavances, and Talla Joven, among others.

He collaborated with artists such as Luna Manzanares, Raúl Torres, and Adrián Berazaín.

After 10 years of career, he released his first album In the Corners of the City; a compilation of the music created during this time, the note states.
