Consulate of Spain in Cuba: the one that receives the most complaints from its users

Many citizens have reported how complicated it is to make an appointment to apply for a visa, whether under the general or community regime.

The delay in resolving complaints received in theSpanish Consulate in Cuba It can reach 10 years in some cases. As an example, it is enough to know that at the beginning of 2017 more than 77,000 nationality applications remained pending to be resolved.

According toNavy DiaryIn March of this year, a report presented by the Ombudsman to the president of the Congress of Deputies in Spain, insisted on the serious operational problems that affect this public administration on the Island.

Although the Spaniards of Cuba have used the mechanism offered by the Ombudsman's Office to report obstacles and irregularities, until now there has been no improvement.

Last year, Ambassador Buitrago de Benito declared that he would resolve the problems and traffic jams that have plagued the Spanish community in the Iberian nation for years. But it did not happen like that, rather the opposite: the Havana Consulate is the one that has received the most complaints from its users, and the population's discontent continues its upward trend.

It is not a trivial matter, especially now, when experts warn that the electoral reform announced by thecurrent socialist government, must increase the influence on peninsular internal politics that the200,000 Spanish citizens residing on the Island.

Problems getting an appointment online

A large number of people have gone to the Ombudsman to report how difficult it is to make an appointment at the Consulate to apply for a visa, whether under the general or community regime.

The answer was that there are several email addresses and IP addresses, on which appointments are booked. This is reported on social networks and on the office's website.

The computer program is being modified to identify the addresses from which appointments are stolen and to prevent users from canceling appointments that have been booked with false information and replacing them with others.

A system was also enabled on the website so that relatives of Spaniards can obtain a visa under the community regime in the shortest possible time.
