A young Cuban denounced during a live broadcast on social networks that the Cuban PoliceHe fined his mother because she had the music loud. inside his house, in Havana.

Patrol 769 arrived at the house, when it was not yet 12:00 at night, and fined the woman 20 Cuban pesos for being the owner of the house.

"I'm making this live video for Facebook because I'm here at my house, in my house, and 769 came to give my mother a fine of 20 pesos or else for the unit," the boy explained.

"They say you can't have the music loud inside the house. There's no party here, there aren't even five people, it's my stepfather, my mom, my girlfriend and I," said the young man, who seemed surprised because he believed that I wasn't violating any rules.

But the situation went further. At the time of issuing the fine, the mother said that she did not have an identification card because she had lost it, but that she could tell him the number by heart.

The woman even assured that she has not been able to buy in stores, due to the provision that requires giving the identity document in the queues to enter; nor request a new one because the office is closed due to the pandemic.

Despite the clarification, one of the police officers was pleased to increase the fine to 2,000 Cuban pesos without further explanation.

"The problem is that this is the empire of fines, that's how it is," said the young man, who made it clear to the officers that he was broadcasting live so that everyone knew what was happening.

The imposition of fines has increased considerably in Cuba during these coronavirus months. In Havana alone, the government obtained last weekalmost 4 million Cuban pesos in more than 1,800 fines for violating regulations issued after the pandemic.

On September 1, Decree 14/2020 of the Council of Ministers came into force, which grants the governor of Havana powers to impose fines of 2,000 and 3,000 Cuban pesos on those who violate the new measures adopted to stop the spread of the coronavirus. .

The fines double their value if payment is not made within the first 10 days. After duplication, the person has 30 calendar days to pay, otherwise criminal proceedings begin.

Of all the fines issued since September 1, 1,757 were for "non-use or incorrect use of the mask."
