Cuban outfielder Pedro Manuel León signed a $4 million bonus contract with the Houston Astros this Friday.

The officialization of the agreement between León and the Astros occurred in the Dominican Republic as part of the beginning of the international signing period in the Major Leagues.

The player, a native of the province of Mayabeque, thus electrified the market, with the highest signature in terms of bonuses, which covered almost the entire budget of the Astros, who had a cap of 5.3 million for this period.

León, 22 years old, left Cuba in October 2019, after setting a record of 15 home runs in the first 45 games with the Hurricanes of Mayabeque in the 2018 National Series.

Meanwhile, once he performed in the Dominican Republic, he immediately impacted the scouts and Houston emerged as the Cuban's main suitor.

It is a mix of power, speed, contact and athletic prototype. León stands out for his arm and when it comes to hitting he projects notable contact and power.

León was a member of the Cuba team in the youth categories and participated in the 2015 World Youth Championship in Japan. On that same team were players who have signed million-dollar deals such as José "El Fino" García, Luis Robert and Yolbert Sánchez.
