The authorities of the Las Tunas municipality, capital of the same name of the eastern Cuban province, have decided to establish this Monday the third phase within the recovery stage of COVID 19, reported the Cuban News Agency (ACN).

These actions are due to the outbreak that began during the month of December, which has triggered alarms about the epidemiological situation in the territory, increasing the number of cases of coronavirus that are reported in the so-called balcony of eastern Cuba.

Gregory Pérez Héctor, deputy provincial director of Public Health in Las Tunas, told ACN that by decision of the Temporary Working Group established to monitor the impacts of the disease in the Las Tunas territory, more restrictive measures will be applied starting today.

The media also reported that the Ernesto Guevara and Mártires de Las Tunas provincial hospitals have rooms for high-risk suspects; For its part, the Guillermo Domínguez hospital, in the Puerto Padre municipality, is ready to care for symptomatic positive cases if the situation warrants it.

The Ministry of Public Health of Cuba reported this Monday that four people died due to the coronavirus and 838 new infections were detected in the country. In this way, the total number of deaths reaches 300 and the number of confirmed cases rises above 45 thousand.
