It took almost two months for Cuban Adonys Barrios and his family to arrive to the United States from Uruguay and, although there was no human loss, he confesses that it was a very difficult experience.

"Thank God we are here and we have nothing to regret, but I don't recommend it to anyone I love, I don't recommend the journey to anyone I believe," Barrios confessed to journalist Rolando Nápoles, from America Ve.

Barrios acknowledged that between Colombia and Panama he realized the risk to which he subjected his family, because they crossed an area that could be full of explosive mines, because it is an area of war conflicts of the Colombian guerrilla.

"When we arrived at the beach, exhausted, they told us that they did not know how we had gotten to that place, which was totally inhospitable and that there was a great possibility that it was a minefield," he said.

Another moment that marked the Cuban during his journey was when his wife almost fell off a cliff and thanks to his quick reaction, she was able to grab a root that was sticking out of the ground.

"She managed to grab hold of that root, and thank God she was able to support all the weight," he recalled.

However, the moment where they saw their lives most in danger was during the 12 hours that a boat trip took, where one of their children almost dehydrated and he had the feeling that the boat could capsize.

"The boat hit hard on the crest of the waves. The children started crying, the girl almost became dehydrated because she vomited a lot," he added.

For Barrios, it was worth all the time, because they are safe in the United States and begin a new stage in their lives, but the risk they assumed was still high and the dangers to which they were exposed were shocking during the trip. .

Although the wet feet-dry feet policy has ceased to be in force since the Obama Administration, many Cubans try to reach the United States, through the Straits of Florida or crossing borders through Latin American countries.

The federal government and immigration authorities insist on how unsafe the journey can be and ask that they not do it; As the economic and social crisis on the island increases, so do the numbers of Cubans trying to escape in search of economic improvements and freedoms.

After the announcement that Nicaragua will not ask Cubans for visas "for humanitarian reasons"Analysts and experts on immigration issues warn that this could be a strategy from Havana, in complicity with the regime. by Daniel Ortega, to remove social pressure from the problems generated by the economic policies of the Communist Party.
