Sheyla Ravelo Pérez the young woman who recently participated representing Cuba in theinternational beauty pageant with environmental theme Miss Earth 2022, became the first Cuban in the history of this pageant to qualify in the top 12 finalists.
In the 22nd edition of the competition held this November 29 at Okada Manila, Philippines, Sheyla competed among 86 representatives from around the world.
“My heart is so full. Cubans, although we did not reach the crown this weekend, we made history by entering among the finalists for the first time,” the 22-year-old girl born in San Antonio de los Baños, current province of Artemisa, wrote on her Instagram.
The environmental activist also thanked everyone who supported her on this difficult path: “It took me a lot of work, effort, blood, sweat and tears to get to this moment and I couldn't have done it without the support of my friends, my family, my team and my fans. From the bottom of my heart, thank you very much.”
According to the Miss Earth Cuba press release, during the activities associated with the contest, Sheyla won many awards in her group in the different phases of the competition, in which she conquered with her indisputable beauty and also demonstrated her great talent and environmental knowledge. .
In addition to her appearance in beauty pageants of this type, Sheyla, who this December will graduate with honors from the University of Florida, is a Brand Ambassador for the sustainable fashion market Queenly, and a Global Cleaning Ambassador for the Great Global CleanUp organization. EarthDay.
This year the title of the contest was in the hands of Mina Su Choi, the representative from South Korea.
