The statistics service Sofascore selected the best eleven of the Qatar 2022 World Cup based on the performance measurements of each player considering various variables.
The squad is led, as expected, by the Argentine captain Lionel Messi, who spearheaded the conquest of the third world title for the Albiceleste team.
Messi received a rating of 8.27, according to the specialized site, which was only surpassed by the Manchester United midfielder, Bruno Fernandes, who, despite his team's elimination in the quarter-finals, scored 8.38.
In the front line, alongside Messi are the French forward Kylian Mbappé (7.61) and the Dutch prospect Cody Gakpo (7.42).
In the ideal midfield of the World Cup, alongside Fernandes, are the Frenchman Antoine Griezmann (7.70) and the Brazilian midfielder Casemiro (7.50).
The ideal defense is led by the Dutch full-back Daley Blind (7.38), followed by the English center-back from Manchester United Harry Maguire (7.34), the French player from Liverpool Ibrahima Konaté (7.32), and the Croatian Josip Juranović (7.13), who plays for Celtic Glasgow.
According to the ratings from Sofascore, the best goalkeeper of the World Cup was the Croatian Dominik Livaković (7.33).
The site awarded a special mention to the Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczęsny, who delivered four outstanding performances that earned him an average rating of 7.93, despite Poland's elimination in the round of 16. However, to be included in the eleven, players had to have reached at least the quarter-finals.
Sofascore had previously revealed its worst eleven of the World Cup featuring Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo.
Due to his poor performance with Portugal in the Qatar 2022 World Cup, and with an overall rating of 6.46, CR7 became part of the team made up of the 11 players with the worst performance in the World Cup.
El delantero portugués tiene como compañero de ataque en el peor once a Lautaro Martínez, a pesar de que el argentino formó parte del equipo campeón que venció a Francia en la tanda de penales en una final memorable.
Martínez, who did not score with Argentina in Qatar during the 148 minutes he played throughout the tournament, received a rating of only 6.35.
The Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy, who was part of the Senegal national team, was also selected by Sofascore for their worst eleven, with a rating of just 6.30.
The American Sergino Dest played as a right-back, after receiving a meager score of 6.50.
Jackson Irvine and Mathew Leckie from Australia were chosen in the midfield alongside South Korean Hwang In-beom and Swiss Rubén Vargas.
The Polish players Kamil Glik and Bartosz Bereszyński, along with the Senegalese central defender Abdou Diallo, have joined the worst team.
