Funds are lacking in Miami-Dade to serve immigrant students

Miami-Dade County declared that it does not have enough funds to deal with the arrival of more immigrant students.

Telemundo51 He said that members of the Miami-Dade school board are in Tallahassee to request more funds in Education to cover the training needs of thousands of children and adolescents who have arrived in South Florida in the current academic year.

The request that educators make to the government is about12 to 14 million dollars in state funds for educational and social integration programs for new students.

HeMiami-Dade School District pointed out that some18 thousand new students, mostly from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, Venezuela, are studying in the county's public schools.

This week theMayor of Hialeah, Esteban Bovo, pointed out that the problem is in the high number of migrants who come to South Florida to settle, especially in "the city that is progressing."

"There is no school that does not have at least one hundred new kids since the school year began. This has forced the school system to hire more teachers to be able to serve these students," Bovo commented.

The avalanche of immigrants is causing acollapse in educational centers and social services to apply for benefits at the offices of the Department of Children and Families in the city of Hialeah, in Miami-Dade, starting in April 2022.

In January 2023, President Joe Biden's administration approved a group of measures to stop the immigration crisis, among which is the possibility of opting for ahumanitarian parole.

Heamerican government reported a few days ago that "to date, some 10,000 Cubans have successfully used the program to enter the United States. Cubans from all walks of life have benefited, including members of the human rights community."

The new measures put a stop to it buthave not been able to completely stop illegal entry attempts of migrants to the United States. Government statistics indicate that there were a total of 753 Cuban immigrants who arrived across the southern border in February. This is the lowest number of irregular entries in three years.
