On April 12, a Cuban police officer fatally stabbed an allegedoffender during an arrest attempt in the municipalityCaibarien, in the province ofVilla Clara.
According to the official version of the event - released inFacebook by blogger Henry Omar Pérez-The agent of the National Revolutionary Police (PNR) was injured during the struggle, although there is no fear for his life.
Henry Omar Pérez identified the criminals asHenry Negrín Bolaños and Armando Prieto, although he did not specify which of the two was the one who died.
The aforementioned source indicated that two agents from car 255 of the PNR "captured the Bolaños and Prieto in the municipality of Caibarién", whom they defined as criminals "with multiple criminal records."
The note adds that“In a resistance struggle, one of the bandits caused four injuries with a knife to one of the officers, who in an attempt to defend himself and disarm the aggressor wounded him with the knife itself, and as a result, said aggressor died.”
“The two criminals linked to this unfortunate event show terrible social behavior, as well as numerous manifestations of intimidation towards people, causing fear in the population,” highlights the information released.
The police officer who was injured "is admitted to Observation and is not in danger of life," concluded the note, which in its final segment said it "deeply regrets the loss of a human life."
The note, initially published in the aforementioned profile but later reproduced in other spaces such as the "Citizen Portal 'Soy Villa Clara'" or the radio station CMHW La Reina Radial del Centro, leaves several doubts, among them whether the criminals were caughtIn fraganti in the midst of a criminal act or assault, or if the attempted arrest was part of a direct search by the police.
It is not the first time in recent years that the authorities admit the death of a Cuban during an attempted arrest.
In June 2020 he diedHansel Ernesto Hernández Galiano at the hands of the police in Guanabacoa. In that case, the citizen was shot by two PNR agents whom he confronted while unarmed, according to his relatives on social networks.
In July 2022, the 17-year-old,Zidan Batista Alvarez, died at the hands of a member of the police in the Condado district, also in Villa Clara.
