The governor of the state of Texas, Greg Abbott, deployed this Monday the new Tactical Border Force on the border with Mexico due to the proximity of the lifting of the restrictions imposed by Title 42 next Thursday.
In an unprecedented increase in border security, hundreds of Texas National Guard soldiers will join the thousands already deployed as part of Operation Lone Star to prevent the arrival of illegal immigrants through that area of the southern US border. as stated by a statement of the government.
“The Texas National Guard is deploying Blackhawk and C-130 helicopters and deploying specially trained soldiers for the Texas Tactical Border Force, who will be positioned at specific points along the border to help intercept and repel large groups of migrants. trying to enter illegally," Abbott said at a news conference.
For his part, the deputy general of the Texas Military Department, Thomas Suelzer, stated that this is a planned and multifaceted response to the possible avalanche of undocumented immigrants.
“We have moved troops to critical points, added additional drone teams, and increased the miles of barrier along the border. The dedication of these troops to the state of Texas is inspiring," the general said.
Until May 11, when the measure that allows - for reasons related to the Covid-19 pandemic - the expedited expulsion of migrants is eliminated, hundreds of soldiers will be deployed daily at border points.
This would be the third phase of an operation that began last month with the transfer of Texas National Guard soldiers and teams of drones and barbed wire barriers to active points along the border.
A second phase, which began this Sunday, included the deployment of two rapid reaction forces made up of military police units, one in El Paso and another from San Antonio to the Rio Grande Valley.
Governor Abbott has taken a series of steps to strengthen the border amid constant criticism of Joe Biden's government to control the migrant crisis.
Between his Actions launched Operation Lone Star and deployed thousands of Texas National Guard soldiers and Department of Public Safety agents; designated Mexican cartels as terrorist organizations to keep Texans safe amid the growing national fentanyl crisis; issued an executive order authorizing the Texas Department of Public Safety to return illegal immigrants to the border at customs.
Restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic allowed US authorities to reject tens of thousands of migrants crossing the border, but when they are lifted this Thursday, border authorities expect a new wave of migration to occur.
For this reason, the Biden administration announced that sent 1,500 soldiers to different border crossings and will be active for 90 days.
