MINSAP reports more than 100 Covid-19 infections in the last two days

The Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) reported this Friday that in the last two days more than 100 new cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the country.

Theinformation specifies that at the end of May 25 there were 155 confirmed active cases on the island, of which 45 were confirmed that day and 58 on the previous day, for a total of 103 cases in 48 hours.

On Thursday, 643 samples were analyzed forsurveillance, with 45 being positive, underlines the information.

Currently, 305 patients remain hospitalized and there are 150 suspects, the official report details. To date, the country has a historical total of 14,360,036 samples taken and 1,114,063 positive, he details.

Of the 45 cases confirmed in the last day – 21 men and 24 women – 20 were contacts of confirmed cases; 1 had a source of infection abroad, and 24 have no specified source of infection.

All cases presented symptoms.

By age group, 31 cases belong to those under 20 years of age, three were reported in people from 20 to 39 years of age, four from 40 to 59 years of age, and seven patients were over 60 years of age.

On May 9, Dr. Raúl Guinovart, dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computing at the University of Havana, predicted a slight increase in Covid-19 cases for the coming weeks.
