Donald Trump currently crushes its competitors in the race for the Republican presidential nomination with 54% support, according to a new survey of the New York Times/Siena College published this Monday.

The closest rival of the former North American president is the governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis (17%), who is no less than 37 percentage points below the tycoon.

Even if all other candidates drop out and that electorate goes to Florida's governor, poll finds Trump could still beat DeSantis 62-31.

Far behind Trump and DeSantis, three other candidates register a poor 3%. they are former Vice President Mike Pence; Senator Tim Scott and Trump's former ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley.

They are followed with 2% by Chris Christie, former governor of New Jersey, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy. The survey does not even show the rest of the candidates - six more - would have support of 1% or less. The Republican primaries are especially crowded in this call, with 13 names.

Trump outperformed the other candidates by wide margins in nearly every demographic group surveyed.

Support for the former president increases considerably among the party's most conservative voters, where he obtains 65% compared to 15% for DeSantis.

DeSantis especially failed among the Republican Party's most influential demographic groups, garnering just 9% support among voters 65 and older and 13% among those without a college degree.

Blue collar workers - blue collar workers, factory workers, etc. - remain loyal to Trump.

This Monday's survey further consolidates the results of the previous ones.

Other recent polls, such as Morning Consult They give Trump even greater distance: 59% support compared to 16% for DeSantis; that is, 43 points difference.

Last week, a Monmouth University poll found that nearly 7 in 10 Republican voters believe Trump is "definitely" or "probably" the party's strongest candidate to unseat President Joe Biden.

Trump's success in the polls comes despite his legal problems.

In March A Manhattan grand jury indicted him for a payment of 130 thousand dollars made to porn star Stormy Daniels, who alleges the two had an affair shortly before the 2016 presidential election.

However, Trump's popularity among his voters skyrocketed thereafter and his campaign registered a record number of 7 million donations after hearing the news.

In June, a federal grand jury indicted Trump after an investigation found that he led highly classified documents from the White House to his Florida mansion, in Florida.

Added to this is that it is possible that Trump will also be accused of charges related to his efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election in the state of Georgia, as well as charges related to the January 6, 2021 insurrection at the Capitol.

However, despite the former president's judicial setbacks, at the moment the polls present him as the clear winner in the Republican primaries leading up to the 2024 presidential elections in the United States.
