The controversy surrounding the Cayo Santa María Festival continues to grow, as a video came to light in which one or more people were seen throwing 100 peso bills at the audience.
A video taken by a witness, shared on the Instagram account of user un_martitodurako8_live_oficial, allows you to see several young people running and trying to grab the money.
"Share, look at the people running, they are throwing 100 peso bills. Community members who came here to Santa María to inflate, changed all their dollars to exchange it for 100 bills and throw them here. Look at the town..." said the author of the recording.
Although it is a small amount (100 pesos are less than 50 cents on the dollar), the crisis in Cuba is so great that many did not hesitate to start searching the ground for a bill.
The incident occurred during the performance of American rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, when he was singingLiving legend, song that he premiered with the Cuban Lenier Mesa in March, and whosevideo clip was filmed in Pinar del Río.
Tekashi, one of the highlights of the event, dedicated a few words of respect from the stage to Lenier Mesa, who traveled to Cayo Santa María but did not sing at the festival.
"I love that Cuban with my soul."He's here, but for reasons he can't sing," said 6ix9ine..
Throwing money at his fans is a hallmark of the American singer, who usually does it on his tours as a thank you.
On one of their visits to Cuba last February, two young people stated thatThey pretended to be him and threw supposed 100 dollar bills in front of the luxurious Packard Hotel in Havana, where he was staying.
The event mobilized hundreds of Cubans who had gathered since early hours to obtain exclusive images of the artist.
A video shared on networks showed young people running to collect the tickets. Using a loudspeaker, the police tried to disperse them and reinforced guard at the hotel.
