A Cuban man shot and killed his ex-wife in front of his children and other family members, the same day they both went to a divorce hearing in Las Vegas in which the man lost everything.

Roidan Durruthy-Mendoza, 38, killed his ex hours after a judge granted the woman the house, the truck and custody of the two children.

The crime occurred on August 17 at around 2:40 pm, at an apartment complex in the 3900 block of South Jones Boulevard, near Flamingo Road. That is the woman's parents' house, where she was living with her children during the divorce process.

According toFOX 5, the victim's eldest daughter, 14, called the police and said, "Hurry, hurry," and then added, "He has a gun." The operator reported that he heard fried food in the background during the call. The teenager walked away from the phone and when she returned she said that her mother was dead.

When the agents arrived at the apartment, there were three people with gunshot wounds. The first, identified asMarillorky Size-Cross, was found in the hallway between the bedroom and the bathroom with a fatal wound to her forehead. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other two victims were Tamayo Cruz's mother, Marilu Cruz-Tamayo, who was wounded in the eye, and his brother-in-law, Iván Brizuela-Esparza, who was shot in the elbow. Both were taken to a local hospital.

As reportedLas Vegas in Spanish, Durruthy-Mendoza scaled the balcony of the house, entered and broke down the bedroom door, grabbed the woman by the hair and shot her three times.

Tamayo Cruz's sister, brother-in-law and parents barricaded themselves in another bedroom, but the man shot through the door. He pushed her down and tried to stab the 14-year-old girl, who suffered a cut on her hand. Finally he threw the knife on the ground and ran away.

In total, he fired 11 times.

Another two-year-old child whose custody the couple shared was also in the apartment during the shooting, but was unharmed.

Shortly after, Durruthy-Mendoza surrendered to police and confessed to the crime.

He was arrested and charged with one count of open murder, two counts of attempted murder with a deadly weapon and two counts of domestic assault with a deadly weapon.

The arrest report, to which the portal had accessLawandcrime, describes him as "a Cuban man" who was "dressed all in white and fled the scene in a white van."

The Cuban appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. A preliminary hearing date has been scheduled for October 18. He is being held without bail.
