The demolition of a building in Brickell caused traffic insecurity on one of the main avenues in Miami's financial center.

Shocking images shared through social networksOnly in Dade andlifestyle_miami They captured the moment when a failed demolition maneuver caused the uncontrolled fall of a large piece of concrete.

Heavy machinery with a long mechanical arm was trying to remove a concrete slab, when it ended up falling outside the safety perimeter, breaking the fence and almost crushing the vehicles traveling along Brickell Avenue.

Miraculously, no one was injured in the incident, as cars and pedestrians were circulating in the area when the concrete block fell from the sixth floor, causing a loud noise, destruction and leaving fragments of debris on the public road.

Miami-Dade firefighters did not receive any calls alerting them to the accident and arrived at the scene when the company in charge of the demolition, Alpha Wrecking, had already removed the debris, as explained toTelemundo 51 your spokesperson,Pete Sanchez.

While authorities investigate what happened, the project is on hold indefinitely and traffic remains closed around the 700 Block of Brickell Avenue.

Days ago it was learned that the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School building in Parkland, where a shooting occurred in 2018 that left 14 students and three teachers dead, will be demolished next summer.

The property, which has remained closed and isolated behind a fence since the day of the massacre, will be demolished when the current 2023/2024 school year ends. In the rest of the campus, classes continue to take place as normal.

In July 2018, during the demolition work of a building on the beachfront in Miami Beach, a collapse occurred thatone worker was injured as a result of the collapse.

Much more controlled and without incidents resulted in the demolition in April 2019 of the building that served as the South Shore hospital, in Miami Beach, after more than a decade of being completely abandoned.

As reportedTelemundo 51, "specialized teams used a small amount of explosives to demolish the structure, so Miami Beach city officials closed traffic near the area to avoid possible accidents."
