They arrest the mother of political prisoner of 11J Ailex Marcano in Camagüey

Cuban Ailex Marcano, mother of political prisoner Ángel Jesús Veliz Marcano, was detained this Friday by State Security in Camagüey and her whereabouts are unknown, local activists reported on Facebook.

Heinfluencer Yonimiler Del Rio Polo said inFacebook that the mother was summoned at 1:00 pm to the Police Station known as Third Montecarlo, in Camagüey.

Since then she has not been heard from and the authorities tell those who have called to inquire about Marcano's whereabouts that she is not at the station.

"The mother of a political prisoner from 11J just called me to tell me that the mother of political prisoner Angel Jesús MARCANO, Ailex Marcano, is imprisoned, it is not known where they are keeping her, she is in forced disappearance at the hands of the dictatorship, the reasons "It is known that anyone who defends human rights in Cuba and exposes the barbarities of this dictatorship is a threat to them," denounced Cuban Orlando Ramírez Cutiño.

Likewise, he told "the henchmen who have her" that "Ailex is not alone," and that if she is not released in two hours "we are going after her."

Ailex Marcano has been campaigning for months for the freedom of her son, who is serving a six-year prison sentence for his participation in the protests of July 11, 2021.

Last March Marcanoreported that her son had problems with the head of the Kilo 8 prison, in Camagüey, and they took him to a punishment cell. Also that his son was placed withhighly dangerous prisoners.

Last yearwas attacked by a State Security officer in the middle of the street in retaliation for the woman's constant demands for the freedom of her son and the rest of the 11J protesters held by the regime.
