The nurseWelsy Cruz, one of the best-known voices of the opposition to the Cuban regime in Holguín, managed to reach the United States after a year on a migratory route through Latin America.
JournalistMario J. Pentón confirmed that alreadyWelsy Cruz is located in US territory and showed a video with statements by the activist.
"Great news: Welsy Cruz It's already in the United States! Fundraising amounted to nearly $4,000 dollars for their first steps into the lands of freedom. Welcome, patriot!" said Pentón.
This weekend Welsyoffered an interview to Pentón where he explained how hard his migratory route was to get to the United States.
The nurse from the oncological emergency service at the Vladimir Ilich Lenin University Hospital in Holguín suffered theState Security harassment and was fired from her job for demonstrating on July 11, 2021.
He left Cuba in 2022 for Guyana and went through terrible times in which he even had to sleep on the streets.
"They never saw Welsy asking for help, or a recharge, or anything, but today I have to get rid of that shame and I have to do it, because I am at the gates of freedom. I have an approved visit but I don't have the money for the tickets that's why "I'm asking for help," he said.
His request was heard by theCubans in exile who responded with a collection of more than $4,000 dollars so that this Holguín woman who has denounced the arbitrariness of the regime could buy tickets and reach the United States.
