The president of Venezuela,Nicolas Maduro, expressed his concern aboutthe recent triumph in the Argentine presidential elections of the liberalJavier Miley, which he described as a "tremendous threat" to the Latin American region.

In his weekly television program, Maduro denounced the supposed "colonial" character of the elected president and his supposed submission to "North American imperialism."

"We are not going to remain silent, because the arrival of a right-wing extremist, with a colonial project, absolutely colonial, kneeling to North American imperialism, is a tremendous threat," said the Chavista leader.

According to the socialist Maduro, Milei represents the Argentine "neo-Nazi right" that seeks to lead a "colonial project" throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.

"We call for reflection on the emergence of extreme right-wing centers that seek to impose themselves to recolonize Latin America again and seek to impose extremist models. In Venezuela they have not happened nor will they happen, Venezuela will continue to be a free and Bolivarian land," he stressed.

The Venezuelan president warned about Milei's intention to eliminate the State and social rights to establish an ultraliberal model similar to the one imposed in the 1970s, which, according to him, denied social rights under a repressive State.

Maduro called for reflection on the emergence of far-right movements in the region and reaffirmed that Venezuela will continue to be a free and Bolivarian country.

This electoral result has generated an ideological break in the relations between Caracas and Buenos Aires, tensions that had been experienced during the presidency ofMauricio Macri and that, according toWHICH, had returned to normalization under the current mandate ofAlberto Fernandez.

For her part, the Venezuelan opposition leader,Maria Corina Machado, congratulated Milei on her victory, considering it a triumph in the fight for "change" and "freedom" in Latin America.

Machado hopes to lift his disqualification to compete in the 2024 elections, presumably against Maduro, who has been in power since 2013.
