The Cuban-American senator Marco Rubio met with the president of Argentina, Javier Miley, a fierce critic of the Castro dictatorship and whom Rubio described as a "strong ally of the United States."
The representative of the state of Florida shared several photos of the meeting at the Casa Rosada, which show the relaxed and informal attitude that the host maintained.
"Great meeting today with Milei, a strong US ally with a bold plan to save Argentina from a century of disastrous socialist policies. We should help him succeed!" said the Republican politician.
The meeting with the president was the culmination of Rubio's trip to Buenos Aires, where he previously met with Foreign Minister Diana Mondino, a meeting whose objective was "to learn about the parliamentarian's vision on matters of common interest such as the promotion of democracy and economic growth, migration and security challenges," said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Javier Milei has greatly criticized the lack of rights and freedoms in Cuba with its explosive, vehement and biting tone that usually generates controversy.
Excited by the historic outbreak of 9/11, he called the Castro regime "bloody, murderous and starving" and asked Cubans not to give up their fight. "Freedom will bring you prosperity, well-being and above all things, a lot of happiness. So, Cuban brothers, do not give in. Do not give in, it is your time, move forward! Long live freedom, damn it!" he expressed.
For the official investiture ceremony, held on December 10, He did not invite Miguel Díaz-Canel, Nicolás Maduro, Daniel Ortega, nor the president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, considering them rulers who systematically violate human rights in their countries and support terrorist organizations such as Hamas and Hezbollah.
"Cuba is a prison and hell because of the decision of the communists," he told a social media user in 2018.
