A warehouse of stolen products, drugs, weapons and money of illegal origin was what the police found after carrying out a search at the home of a Cuban in northwest Miami.
Total,Authorities recovered nearly a million dollars in drugs and stolen items.
The Cuban, 59 years old and identified as Leonardo Ruiz, was arrested after Miami police and the Drug Enforcement Administration along with a SWAT team executed a search warrant on Wednesday at a house located in the 1400 block, in Northwest 24th Avenue,Allapattah.
"This guy here is absolutely a real-life Grinch. We're glad he's off the streets.", said Manuel Morales, chief of the Miami City Police, in statements to thelocal press
Although the police went to the home with a search warrant expecting to find only drugs, it turns out that what they found was much more than that.
Detectives said there was an organized drug sales outlet and an organized robbery outlet operating inside the home.
They found 1,629.9 grams of suspected cocaine in a brick-shaped package and multiple baggies, along with 56.15 grams of a rock of cocaine, according to the arrest statement cited by the local press.
The officers iThey also seized seven weapons, including an AR-15, a .357 Magnum and Glocks, along with hundreds of ammunition.
Police said Ruiz also resold stolen items at CVS, T.J. Maxx, Home Depot, Ross and other retailers throughout South Florida.
"I had that in there almost set up like a tent.He had a room where the tools were, another where the alcohol was, a room where the pain medicines were. Also frozen meat, lobsters... It had everything in there," said the Miami police chief.
Police also found large sums of cash hidden in closets containing fake funds. The closets contained bags with large sums of money.
A photo shared by detectives showed a Home Depot trailer filled to the brim with merchandise, including power tools. The contents of the truck were just one room in the house.
According to the arrest report, the search warrant came after undercover officers made two cocaine purchases from Ruiz on Nov. 30 and Dec. 6.
Leonardo Ruiz remains in the TGK, where he faces charges for cocaine trafficking, money laundering, among others.
