The telecommunications monopoly in Cuba (ETECSA) announced a new numbering for cell phones.

Cubacel, the ETECSA department that provides this service, announced on its Twitter account that the new numbering enabled will begin with 63.

The company states that the objective is to improve the availability of mobile numbers in the country and facilitate communication between users.

As explained in his web, the numbering that currently exists - those that begin with 5 - will not change.

The new numbering that begins with 63 will be for customers who contract a new cell line, and this is valid for prepaid or postpaid customers.

"Now there are new mobile numbers that begin with 63. The plus symbol (+) followed by 53 means the code of our country; 63 is the new number," he explained.

The person who receives a call from this number will see 10 digits on the screen of their device (+53 63XX XXXX). This call will be free for the receiving user, as is the case with the rest of the numbers.
