The political prisoner Luis Robles Elizástigui He was transferred to a correctional work center, a regime that allows him to enjoy visits to his home.
His mother, Yindra Elizástigui Jardines, informed the portal CubaNet that the young man is now in the so-called Ground Zero of the Eastern Combine since last Friday, when the guards ordered him to collect his things since he would be taken to the camp.
"Thank God, after so much insistence and struggle we have managed to get Luis to go to his camp," he said.
According to him, the transfer to the camp had already been approved days ago, but it had not arrived because the approval of the National Directorate of Penitentiary Establishments was missing.
In Yindra's opinion, this is "a big step" for the release of her son, who has been in prison since 2021. The next thing would be, according to his time in prison, conditional release.
"Due to the way in which prison years are counted, Luis is already three years and almost five months old, and we hope that later the required time in Ground Zero will be fulfilled and his conditional release will be approved," he explained.
However, he assured that he is not totally happy because in reality his son is innocent and is fighting for his freedom from Cuba.
Luis Robles, 31, is serving a five-year prison sentence for a peaceful protest held on December 4, 2020 on the boulevard from San Rafael, Havana, where he held up a sign demanding the end of repression in Cuba and the release of the protesting rapper Denis Solís.
