The mother of political prisoner Luis Robles said that she was starting this strike for the freedom of her son and all Cuban political prisoners.


Yindra Elizastigui Jardines, mother ofpolitical prisoner Luis Robles, reported that he will begin a hunger strike this Saturday for the release of his son.

I do this for the freedom of my son, for the freedom of all Cuban political prisoners who are unjustly imprisoned., who have suffered abuse of all kinds and also on behalf of the families that we have suffered," he clarified in adirect broadcast from your Facebook account.

Elizastigui Jardines expressed that she has been insistent that her son be granted the option of the camp, which has already been approved by the Combined Penitentiary Center of the East, where Robles is imprisoned, but that the approval of the National Directorate is still missing. of Prisons.

In camp, Robles could work and even receive passes.

The mother confessed that she was already tired because “many people are concerned and busy supporting us in this fight for the liberation of our children, but they fill them with lies, lies that consist of the fact that our children are not imprisoned for political reasons, that our children have and receive the medical attention they require, that our children and our families have never been mistreated," he alleged.

She also explained that she decided to go on a hunger strike despite being sick. “Everyone knows that I am a sick person, hypertensive, diabetic, heart disease, but I think there is no other way.I no longer ask for my son's camp, I ask for his release.”, he indicated.

Luis Robles was arrested by the police on San Rafael Boulevard, in downtown Havana, while holding a sign calling for freedom and an end to repression in Cuba on December 4, 2020.

His mother remembered that date in her broadcast and said that “If it was a punishment, it is enough because you know that my son is innocent.”. At the same time, he held the Cuban government authorities and State Security responsible for what could happen to his health and his son.

In July 2022,Yindra broke the silence on social networks to denounce the mistreatment of her son Luis Robles in prison.

In February of this year, Elizastigui Jardines shared a post on Facebook to inform about theserious health problems he was suffering from. “Serious health problems that I am currently experiencing force me to be off social networks for a while, on the doctor's recommendation. As you can see in the photo, my face is swollen, my heart is a little enlarged, I am almost diabetic, and my blood pressure is a little uncontrolled, all due to stress (which anyone who knows medicine knows leads to many diseases),” she noted.
