The Cuban guyEduardo Lázaro Marrero-Fortes, 59, was accused of stabbing a man in Hialeah.
Marrero-Fortes turned himself in at Hialeah Police Department Headquarters this Monday.Local 10 had access to the arrest report and they specify that the Cuban faces acharge of attempted second-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
Heviolent attack It occurred on October 6, 2023. The victim was fixing a car on the street near the 1100 block of Palm Avenue when Marrero-Fortes drove by in a gray 2021 Lexus SUV.
Seeing the man on the avenue working, Marrero-Fortes parked his vehicle nearby and walked to him.Stabbed him in the back, on more than one occasion.
The victim tried to defend himself but was seriously injured on the ground. As he was about to die, his attacker left the scene.
Andwitness who was at the scene He was able to identify Marrero-Fortes and reported him. The victim managed to survive and gave statements to detectives.
The stabbed man was treated at theJackson Memorial Hospital Ryder Trauma Center. He underwent emergency surgery for multiple lacerations to his stomach, leg, left ear and chest, as well as a puncture wound to the left side of his torso.
The victim and the witness were interviewed by the police and their statements coincided.
Authorities claim that Marrero-Fortes knew the man who stabbed him for years. The Cuban had been detained in March 2023 foraggravated assault on the same person, in another incident.
Investigators said Marrero-Fortes did not make any statements after turning himself in. The motive for the alleged stabbing is unknown. The aggressor is detained without bail in theTurner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
