In a context marked by growing crime on the island, the Cuban regime reported the arrest of several people allegedly involved in the theft of an electric motorcycle in Villa Clara.
According to the official profile inFacebook "Fuerza del Pueblo", close to the Ministry of the Interior (Minint), three men involved in the theft and receipt of a motorbike in the center of the capital city were arrested.
The incident occurred on February 5 on Julio Jover Street in Santa Clara.
The detainees were identified as Ernesto Cepeda, who was on bail for a previous robbery. This man would have been in charge of stealing the motorcycle.
Likewise, Cuban Eduardo Bernal, a coachman who loaded the vehicle onto his cart in the middle of the street and transported it in exchange for 5,000 pesos, will be prosecuted.
The third person involved is Yunieski Campo, described as an "antisocial element known as "El Garza", who bought the motorbike for 60 thousand pesos, knowing that it was stolen.
Motorcycle theft has increased in Cuba in a context of violence, shortages and inflation.
At the end of last year the Minint reported that at least18 people had been charged for the theft of electric and combustion motorcycles in Havana.
In a publication on its Twitter profile, that entity of the Cuban regime said that its crime-fighting bodies made it possible to clarify 21 cases of theft with force or violence of electric and combustion motorcycles inthe capital.
Likewise, 18 mopeds (electric motorcycles, combustion motorcycles and tricycles), parts and pieces were recovered.
But the evil spreads to all the provinces of the island, where several motoristshave been murdered during robberies.
Cuban motorists have asked for firm actions and have even proposed taking the law into their own hands to defend themselves against the wave of robberies because, they say, "the thieves don't believe in anyone."
