Cubans despair over delays in the delivery of remittances: "Nothing arrives"

The situation of theremittances to Cuba has become critical, with alarming delays that affect the population dependent on these monetary shipments.

Cubans are beginning to despair and many claim on social media that after waiting for almost two weeks, there is still "nothing coming."

"Technical difficulties have represented the need to rebuild the entire community with banks and agencies. Operations ready to pay are being paid so as not to further delay the service. However, another group of operations are being reconciled and refined to be able to pay. The most affected are AIS cards," said Fincimex S.A. on his official Facebook profile.

The financial company in charge of managing thetransfers, has insisted for several days that the delays are due to technical problems, but they have not detailed their origin or what they consist of.

Although the entity has communicated on its social networks that the payment of remittances is being carried out progressively, many families still do not receive the money sent from abroad.

"They sent me a transfer from the second half of January and these are the hours in which my money has not yet been deposited. They only know how to say that there are technical problems," said a person on social networks.

Similar desperation is reflected in the words of a citizen who, after 10 days, has not received the remittance given by her daughter.

Meanwhile, some clients have reported the arrival of their remittances through comments on the official Fincimex Facebook page.

Transfers sent from Spain and Germany in late January and early February were finally received. However, there are users who, using the same agencies, continue without their funds.

Companies like Small World have suspended shipments to the island, joining the previous list ofWestern Union and other US agencies.

One user expressed his discontent with Fincimex, arguing that if the Cuban company aspires to serve the people, it is not fulfilling its mission due to the lack of effective communication.

HeBanco Metropolitano S.A. of Cuba urged beneficiaries to contact Fincimex through its page or call center.

This call reinforces the public's unknowns about the technical problems, which some rumor could be related to an alleged external cyber attack that postponed the price increase in essential services.
