The Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, arrived on Sunday in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on a business trip that includes his participation in the World Government Summit.

The event began this Monday, with the focus of promoting global solidarity and the contribution of science, technology and innovation in the global government structure.

The Cuban prime minister noted that this is his first trip to the UAE. He expressed his gratitude for the invitation and assured that the regime is carrying out "intense work" to carry out the agreements signed in December 2023, during the visit of Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to this country.

Marrero highlighted the importance of the summit topics, because in his opinion, although Cuba is a developing nation, it pays close attention to areas of global interest.

He indicated that the bilateral relationship between Cuba and the Emirates is going through a special moment, with emphasis on cooperation in renewable energy, food and the sugar industry, and alluded to joint projects to accelerate agreements.

"We are excited about what could materialize, from strengthening relationships," he said.

The Cuban delegation includes figures such as Eduardo Martínez Díaz, Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, and Antonio Rodríguez Rodríguez, president of the National Institute of Hydraulic Resources, as well as representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Trade and Foreign Affairs.

During the duration of the summit, Marrero Cruz will hold meetings with Emirati leaders, from other countries attending the event and with businessmen from the region.

In December 2023, Miguel Díaz-Canel was on tour in the Middle East and upon his return he said that he had positive results, especially for achieving investments in food sovereignty for Cuba.

The regime is looking to the nations of the Middle East for a breath of air to sustain its government in one of the worst crises that the island has ever gone through.

Díaz-Canel assured that a new stage is opening in Cuba's relations with the UAE, on issues linked to food production, tourism, renewable energy sources and the pharmaceutical sector. This trip by Marrero aims to follow up on the plans drawn up last year and open possible lines of business.
