Young Cuban who was attacked with a machete is slowly evolving: "Increasingly stronger and healthier"

The young CubanLester Domínguez Ortiz, who last March suffered a violent assault with a machete in Holguín, continues to evolve slowly, although he still has a long way to go to fully recover.

His father,Dennis Dominguez, shared a text on his networks on Sunday in which he was optimistic about the health of the patient, who has not yet walked again.

"Lester continues to evolve slowly, becoming stronger and healthier, but we have to think that [for] spinal injuries, the recovery time is six months to a year according to science, which advances more day by day," he said inFacebook.

Dennis detailedall the steps that an adequate treatment must complete for the adolescent to rehabilitate the spinal cord.

"One, meet the needs as they evolve; two, provide emotional support; three, improve their physical mental and emotional functioning; four, provide education and resources specific to spinal cord injury, electrical stimulation stimulates a certain muscle of the body to do the same job," he said.

This father of courage trusts that the improvement that everyone wants will be achieved andHe praised the attention given to his son by the rehabilitation technicians from the town of San Germán.

"For God there is nothing impossible, the child continues to exercise and rehabilitate at the San Germán polyclinic with the resources that exist, with a lot of love from the professionals who care for him. Let's hope that God continues to perform the miracle of restoring him along with the doctors," he added.

In January, Dennis reported that his son continued to improve and thatvery soon I would try to walk again.

"Lester feels very good health, he is being given exercise to strengthen his neck due to the damage caused by the 32 stitches on his neck and as you can see, the bedsores have disappeared and without a tracheotomy. Starting Monday, he will go to the gym to start improving his movement and then wait for the first steps, after nine months of being bedridden," he said.

In October,Lester managed to stand up for a few seconds for the first time since he was assaulted. in March.

"From the sitting position, with help, he managed to stand up and stand for a moment. Well, then he got dizzy but it was after six months without standing. He cried with joy and says that he is going to walk," said the moved father.

"When the doctors' diagnosis was that he would not walk, for him it is the opposite, because for God nothing is impossible. Let's hope that he continues to evolve well. May God continue to perform the miracle of restoring him together with the doctors," he added. .
