The US exported almost 10 million dollars in cars to Cuba in 2023

Imports included new cars, semi-new cars, trucks and ambulances, among others.

From the US, cars of various types worth almost 10 million dollars were exported to Cuba during 2023, according tostatistics from the US-Cuba Economic and Trade Council (USCTEC).

During 2023 they were imported to the islandnew vehicles worth $357,442, second-hand cars ($4,385,612) andmotorhomes ($186,500).

The high figures in the acquisition oftractors used for agricultural use, worth $147,247, ofpassenger cars ($1,790,107 from Miami and $175,475 from Tampa), ambulance and hearses ($78,590) and trucks of different names.

The aforementioned document also lists another series of products that have been exported to Cuba, especially those related to food, with Miami and Tampa, as the main cities from where imports arrive to the island.

Last April, the United States Department of the Treasury granted licenses to Miami businessmen toshipping cars, trucks, tractors and even trailers to self-employed workers in Cuba.

The license is for 10 million dollars and only allows shipping to self-employed workers, not to Cuban Government agencies.

In recent times, Cubans have reported with surprise on the networks sightings of lots of imported cars, as well as Mercedes Benz, Audis, Toyotas or Mazdas splashing across the geography of a country where inequalities are increasingly widening.

A similar statistic was released in September 2023, and it was reported thatCuba imported second-hand cars worth half a million dollars from the US., only in that month.
