They announce the arrival of a cold front to Cuba this Sunday

The seventeenth cold front of the season will leave minimum temperatures that will be around 15 degrees Celsius in areas of the interior of the Island.

The National Institute of Meteorology of Cuba (INSMET) announced for this Sunday the arrival of a new cold front, the seventeenth of the season.

“The early mornings remain very cold, with minimums of 15.4 degrees Celsius in Bainoa, Mayabeque and other territories [as a consequence] of the entry, this Sunday, of a new cold front to the west of Cuba,” indicated the National Television News in their social networks.

This Friday, temperatures were between 17 and 20 degrees Celsius in much of the country, reaching somewhat higher values, especially in coastal areas.

“The predominance of little cloud cover and a weak southerly flow favored the occurrence of areas of fog and mist during the early morning in parts of the west and eastern region. It also made it possible for the early morning to be cold in the western interior, where minimum temperatures dropped to 14.9 degrees Celsius in Indio Hatuey, Matanzas,” INSMET indicated in its part of the time.

Meteorologists consider that “the influence of high pressure maintains an environment of great stability over Cuba and its adjacent seas, [a situation] that limits precipitation to the point that it continues to be very scarce.”

For this Saturday, "the probability of rain will continue to be very low for almost the entire country, only at night are isolated rains possible in the extreme west." According to INSMET, “the afternoon will be warm again, especially in areas of the eastern region.”

The previous cold front (no. 16) caused rains in western Cuba and left minimum temperatures between 19 and 22 degrees Celsius, lower in inland locations and higher in coastal areas. The lowest value was 15.6 degrees Celsius in Palenque de Yateras, Guantánamo.

Previously, another cold front left strong floods in western Cuba as a result of the intense rains that were recorded in several provinces and the penetration of the sea on the northern coast.
