The ingenuity of the Cuban to face thefood crisis that the country is experiencing, is not hidden even in the most central areas of the Cuban capital, specifically in the popular neighborhood of El Vedado, where neighbors have “assaulted” several spaces by planting banana trees.
Facebook user Pedro Luis García let people know about this neighborhood initiative that apparently is a nod to the national coordinator of the CDR,Gerard Hernandez Nordelo and his slogan of "sow your little piece."
“Bartolo's banana plantation in Havana's Vedado”, was how this user titled his publication and added that “it is already common to see banana cultivation when walking” through that area of Havana.
He specified that the “planting of bananas becomes visible before the eyes of the walker on 21st Street.”
Also in Havana,Residents of the Cerro municipality planted two banana trees in a huge pothole in the middle of the street.
"Welcome to the jungle!" said Yulier Rodríguez, who shared a photo and video of the curious event on his Facebook wall.
The surreal scene can be seen on Santa Teresa Street, between Calzada del Cerro and Cañongo, about 100 meters before reaching the Cerro Pediatric Hospital.
In December,Residents on the battered Mujica street, between Rio and Cuba, in the city of Matanzas, planted corn, banana, taro and pumpkin, in an artery that has been damaged and closed for years.
A photo shared on the Internet allowed us to see the crops growing in a place that was unlikely to be planted and where, apparently, a tram had previously passed.
Less than a month later, after multiple criticisms of the government for the lack of attention to that street, paving and maintenance work began to be carried out there.
What do you think?
