Two young people arrested for armed robbery at an ATM in Hialeah

The defendants stole $200 in cash from the victim.


The police have arrested the young peopleEric Guerra and Leandro López-Sánchez, both 21 years old, in relation to an armed robbery of which a client of Bank of America at an ATM in the city of Hialeah.

Although the incident occurred on January 21, it was only in recent days that the police were able to solve the case after identifying the vehicle used in the robbery, which was captured by the surveillance camera installed at the scene.

The identification of the vehicle made it possible to first arrest the driver of the car, Leandro López-Sánchez, who then gave the name of his accomplice and executioner of the assault, the young Eric Guerra.

Guerra was the one who, masked, threatened the ATM's customer with a firearm, from whom he stole $200 in cash before fleeing in the car with his accomplice.

The incident has generated concern among residents and regular users of the ATM, who now say they are more cautious when withdrawing money and avoid doing so at night.

Both defendants remain arrested without bail and awaiting trial.

If found guilty, they could face a sentence of life in prison, it was revealed.Telemundo 51.

Until the closing of this note, the nationality of origin of both young people has not been revealed.

This week, Hialeah authorities addressed in a forum the issue of the massive arrival of thousands of migrants to the city, mainly Cubans, with a view to evaluating the impact this has had, as well as the resources available or to ask the federal government to confront the massive arrival of people.

It is estimated that only in the last two years some 80,000 Cubans have arrived, although there are no official figures.

George Fuente, chief of the city police, admitted the increase in traffic accidents in the last two years, as well as arrests and crime in general. However, he clarified that the police are not there to see if a person is documented or undocumented, but to stop crime.
