Cuban pitcher Darién Núñez begins training in the Mexican Baseball League

The Las Tunas experience comes from his time in the Major Leagues with the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise and in the minor leagues with the San Francisco Giants.

The Cuban left-handed pitcherDarien Nunez spring training began this Monday with theTijuana bulls, equipment belonging to theMexican Baseball League, according to sports journalist Francys Romero.

The 30-year-old native of Las Tunas “could impact this complicated baseball and perhaps seek a return to the MLB system,” Romero predicted in his profile.Facebook.

He also highlighted that Núñez was in “the Major Leagues with the Dodgers in 2021 and his fastball travels 97-98 miles.”

The integration of this Cuban pitcher into Mexican baseball was made official on January 23.

His greatest achievement in baseball outside of Cuba ishaving been part of the Los Angeles Dodgers franchise, with whom he performed in six challenges, in which he suffered a loss without victories, in 7.2 innings pitched. His earned run average (EPL) was established, in the Major League, at 8.22.

In 2023 he pitched in the minority circuits of the San Francisco Giants, where he struck out 28 in 22.1 innings pitched, while recovering from Tommy John surgery (to repair the elbow ligament), which he underwent in 2022. During the last winter league,The man from Las Tuscany also ventured with the Toros del Este in the Dominican Baseball League.

As for the preparation on Mexican soil, it will be until the month of April, since on the 12th of that month they will begin their team's actions when they face Sultanes de Monterrey, as visitors, at the start of the 2024 season.

The regular schedule includes 31 series, of which the Toros will play fifteen at Chevron Stadium and 16 on the road, according to the schedule made public on the club's digital site.

Núñez left Cuba in 2015 after having joined the U-18 national team and the 2013 World Classic team.
