A pregnant woman who is admitted to the "Tamara Bunke" North Maternal Hospital in Santiago de Cuba, denounced the poor quality of the food they give to the patients.
"This way no one can live, let alone feed a pregnant woman. This food is useless and it is always like this, they don't give you a snack, they don't give you anything," the surrogate mother told the independent journalist.Yosmany Mayeta Labrada.
The reporter shared on his wallFacebook two photos of a tray in which there was some congri rice, a few pieces of eggplant and a chicken bone with some dough.
"This is not easy, you cannot live like this, there is a lot of hunger in this hospital and the most beautiful thing is that many custodians have to be paid to let relatives come up to bring them food and see us," he stressed. .
Several women commented on the lack of variety and quantity of food, and some even pointed out that in other times the situation was even worse.
"At least you have eggplant and a bone, when it was admitted it was soup and fufú de fongo or boiled pumpkin and rice," one recalled.
"That's good, I gave birth four years ago and the food was this bad or worse," added another.
"When I was admitted to give birth, they gave me white rice and tomatoes and a little bit," explained a third.
"That's the healthy diet for pregnant women eggplant protein hahahaha," one man mocked.
"That shouldn't have any flavor or anything. Look if that's the case, the congri is pale, it looks like it has anemia, and the eggplant seems to protect against black beans," commented another.
Recently, another pregnant woman from Santiago de Cuba admitted to the Sur Maternal Hospital, known as Clínica Los Ángeles, reported that theFood they give to pregnant women there is "pig food".
"There is no one who would put their teeth into that," wrote the young woman, to whom her mother-in-law brings food daily, from early breakfast to the evening meal.
She did not know how to explain well to journalist Mayeta what food they give her in the hospital, because immediately when they take it she throws it away, without even tasting it.
In the published images you could see a hard-boiled fried egg, some watery peas and something that appeared to be plantain fufú.
"And so, there are women who have no other option and [must] eat this same thing because they live outside the municipality," lamented the complainant.
