The Hialeah police confirmed this Thursday the arrest of a 14-year-old teenager responsible for the traffic accidentthat cost the lives of a Cuban woman and her aunt, although they did not reveal his identity or the charges he faces.

According to officers, the teenager took his parents' car to go for a ride with friends when he crashed into another car at an intersection, reportedNBC Miami.

Eddie Rodríguez, spokesperson for the Hialeah Police, explained on Wednesday that three minors were traveling in the vehicle responsible for the accident. He added thatThe driver, a 14-year-old boy without a license, took the car without permission, which triggered the tragic accident.
According to Rodríguez, the teenager's parents had no idea that he had taken the car.
"They live close enough and heard the impact of the accident. They came out, realized their vehicle was missing," said the Hialeah Police spokesperson. "They decided to go to the corner where the accident occurred. To their surprise, their vehicle was involved in the accident."
After the initial collision, one of the cars hit a third vehicle with no occupants that was parked nearby.
"It's a very tragic story, we are praying for the family, they just lost two people in their family," Rodríguez said. "Today we have an entire family destroyed," he reported.NBC Miami.
